     š Baroness’s Bootcamp

The Baroness’ Bootcamp is back at Quest for the Golden Seamstress!

Are you interested in making your own garb but don’t know where to start? Curious to experience the atmosphere of events like Golden Seamstress without committing to compete? Then Baroness’ Bootcamp was made for you!

Aimed at those who have never sewn before or would like a refresher on basic sewing skills, Bootcamp is an all day, all night, learn-to-sew extravaganza taking place right alongside the competing teams. Come experience the thrill of the Golden Seamstress competition while learning a new skill! Participants need only bring a few yards of fabric and they can go home with a ready-to-wear piece of garb! All other necessary supplies (sewing machines, thread, scissors, etc) will be provided.

We will cover the following topics as time permits:
    – Understanding the basic T-tunic construction that underlies a huge amount of medieval garb
    – How to turn one pattern into an entire medieval wardrobe
    – Taking measurements and creating your personal T-tunic pattern
    – Sewing machine setup and basic stitches
    – Simple seam treatments
    – Rolled hems
    – Cutting and finishing necklines
    – Adding decoration

Participants are asked to bring 3-4 yards of fabric depending on which garment they’d like to make. Choice of garment you can make during bootcamp include a basic tunic, Norse style apron dress, Roman/coptic style tunic, or a peplos/bog dress style dress.

If you do not have fabric of your own available, I have a selection of fabric out of my own stash that I am offering to sell to participants at low cost. Those arrangements will be first come first serve and can be made in advance of the event.

All other necessary supplies will be provided, but participants are welcome to bring their own machine if they have one they’d like to learn on.

Please reach out to Baroness Sadb on Facebook, Discord or email baroness@roaringwastes.org if you have questions or need more information! If you are ready to sign up, please use the team registration form linked on this website.

Space and equipment for sewing tunics can only be guaranteed for those who sign up in advance. However, walk-ins are perfectly welcome to join the class to watch, listen, and learn.
